Michael Dufresne, P.Geol.

President and Principal

Mr. Dufresne received his B.Sc. in Geology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1983 and his M.Sc. in Economic Geology from the University of Alberta in 1987. He is a registered Professional Geologist (P.Geol.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) since 1989. Mr. Dufresne is the President and a principal of APEX Geoscience Ltd. He has worked as a consulting geologist for over 25 years conducting and directing exploration programs for junior and major exploration and mining companies encompassing a variety of commodities and deposit types including diamond, gold (placer and lode), base metal and industrial minerals in Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, Quebec, the Northwest Territories (NWT) and internationally. Mr. Dufresne has authored numerous Technical Reports for public companies for early to advanced exploration stage projects including resource work for a variety of commodities and deposit types. He has additionally published extensively on the mineral potential of Alberta, as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories and was first author of "Diamond Potential of Alberta" Alberta Geological Survey Bulletin 63. Mr. Dufresne was personally involved with and part of the exploration teams responsible for the discovery of the George Lake – Goose Lake gold deposits, Nunavut, the Three Bluffs gold deposit, Nunavut, and the Perseverance gold deposit, which is currently in production, in the Coolgardie area of Western Australia

Rob l'Heureux, P.Geol.

Vice-President and Principal

Rob received his B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Alberta in 1998 and his M.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario in 2003 including a thesis titled Iron formations of the Woodburn Lake group, which documented the depositional and metamorphic settings of gold occurrences proximal to the Meadowbank Gold Deposit. Rob has been an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) since 2006. His technical experience includes over 15 years of work with the Geological Survey of Canada, Teck Resources Limited and various junior mining companies prior to joining APEX in February of 2003. Rob has worked on Archean gold deposits, polymetallic vein deposits, porphyry copper-gold and molybdenum systems, sediment- and volcanic-hosted massive sulphides, iron ore, magmatic nickel-copper and unconformity uranium deposits in North America, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. Rob has experience in various corporate undertakings including due diligence, presentations, joint venture and toll milling agreements and reporting for various jurisdictions.

Kris Raffle, P.Geol.


Kris received his B.Sc. (Honours Geology) from the University of British Columbia in 2000, and has been a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and British Columbia (APEGBC) since 2007. Kris joined APEX in 2003, and currently manages exploration and provides geologic consulting services including NI 43-101 technical reports, due diligence property evaluation, exploration program design, and budgeting for APEX clients throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Kris’ technical experience includes over 10 years of work on Achaean lode gold, poly-metallic vein, copper-gold porphyry, epithermal, volcanic-hosted massive sulphide, intrusion-hosted rare earth element, alumina and placer gold deposits; in addition to the evaluation of over 40 kimberlite bodies within the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Alberta and Montana.

Andrew Turner, P.Geol.


Andrew received his B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Alberta in 1989. He is a registered Professional Geologist (P.Geol.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (NAPEG). Andrew has over 22 years of experience in mineral exploration. Prior to joining APEX in 2002, Andrew worked on a variety of mineral exploration projects, from grass-roots to advanced stage, with Noranda Exploration Company Ltd., the Alberta Geological Survey, Westmin Resources Ltd. (later Boliden Ltd.) and several junior exploration companies. Since joining APEX, Andrew has managed and conducted numerous exploration projects on behalf of a variety of clients, which included acting as Project Manager for the Committee Bay Gold Project (on behalf of Committee Bay Resources Ltd., now North Country Gold Ltd.) from 2003-2010. His industry experience includes exploration for and the evaluation of Achaean lode-gold deposits (northern Canada), intrusive related precious and base metal deposits (British Columbia and Mexico), Porphyry-style deposits (British Columbia, southwestern United States and northern Chile) and poly-metallic Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) deposits (throughout western Canada and the United States).

Steve Nicholls

Steve Nicholls, Member AIG

Australia Managing Director

Steve is a resource geologist with +18 years of exploration and mining experience.  He is a graduate of the University of Ballarat and has worked in a variety of geology roles since 1998. Steve commenced his work history with Newcrest Mining Ltd where he worked as an exploration geologist on a variety of gold projects around the Kalgoorlie and Leonora areas of Western Australia.  This included assisting in the drill out of the Mount Marion gold deposit (1.2 million ounces).  In 2002 Steve commenced a role with Harmony Gold where he worked as a Project Geologist on the brownfields exploration project around the New Celebration/Jubilee mine site.  While in this role he was responsible for the discovery of Sambo/BD1 open pit (approximately 18,000 ounces). In 2007, Steve relocated to Perth where he commenced work with Tanami Gold NL.  At Tanami Gold, Steve's role evolved from an office geologist to Senior Exploration Geologist where he was responsible for all mineral resource calculations. Steve joined the APEX Geoscience Group in February 2011 and his focus has been on mineral resource calculations and geostatistical analysis of various commodities for Australian and Canadian clients.

Roy Eccles, P.Geol.

Operations Manager

Roy obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at the universities of Manitoba and Alberta completing a thesis on the Petrogenesis of the Northern Alberta Kimberlite Province. He is a practicing professional geologist (P.Geol.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Roy has over 26 years of mineral exploration experience encompassing a wide range of geological processes (mantle dynamics through to biogeochemical orientation surveys) and commodities including diamond, iron, and precious-, base- and rare-metals. As a 25-year employee with the Manitoba and Alberta geological surveys, Roy has a productive publication record including over 70 published manuscripts and 75 oral presentations, and is internationally recognized for research on, and knowledge of, the geology and economic mineral potential of the Canadian Shield and the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
