Vanessa Elongo PhD, G.I.T.

Geologist

Vanessa completed a bachelor’s degree from Université Marien Ngouabi in the Republic of the Congo in 2014, before moving to France where she completed a Master’s degree in 2018 at Université de Rennes 1 studying ore fluids from the Gakara Rare Earth Element deposit, Burundi. She subsequently moved to Canada and completed a PhD at the University of Alberta in 2022, working on the paleogeographic and geochemical controls on the distribution of tungsten skarn deposits from the Canadian Cordillera.

Vanessa has experience in ore deposit research with a deep understanding of different mineralization models and geological processes, in field mapping and has gained experience as a logger and geotech on diamond and reverse circulation drill programs. She has strong time management, organizational, project planning/management and decision-making skills, and is strongly committed to teamwork and collaboration. She is fluent in Lingala, French, and English. Vanessa worked for APEX in 2021 as a summer student, then returned to APEX in May 2022 as a full-time geologist.
